Matt was barely in my game to get a chance to die! He calmed down some deer, saved himself and let Emily fall with the tower, then reappeared at the very end with a very short section sneaking out of the mine, then he just chillaxed on the side of the cliff until help came. We spent most of the game like "what about that Matt guy?? He left Emily behind and hasn't been seen since..."

One of the few things I dislike about the game is that Jessica and Matt just up and disappear for most of it. I think they should have reappeared in Chapter 7 or 8 and rejoined the main group (if they survive the Wendigo) rather than just having a small scene in the last chapter.

Yep that was the same with me!

But from watching playthroughs on youtube lots of people end up killing Matt accidentally

Yeah that really annoyed me as Jessica was one of my faves at the very start and she literally vanishes in like the 3rd Chapter and didn't appear again until Chapter 10 where I had her alive for about 3 minutes before she died...

I am hoping a DLC comes out centric to Jessica and Matt I think both deserve better and I thought Jess was one of the best in the end interviews, she seemed utterly broken and I felt like she went through a lot compared to people like Ashley who is pretty much safe all game.

I'm doing a run in which I try to save everyone and then I'm gonna try to get the bad ending by killing everyone. Then if I'm not bored of the game by then I'm gonna do one in which only Emily survives

I can't decide if I liked Mike, or if it's just because I like (evil) Ward in Agents of SHIELD.

Sort of like how I was compelled to make sure Sam survived because... Save Sam, save the world? Right?

You only have one chance other than the end, when you enter the tunnels IF Chris is alive say you'll wait for him when he complains and insist the girls go on without him, you'll play as Ashley and when you get the option to follow 'Jess' take it and open the trap door, you'll release a wendigo that will kill her.

Yeah I assumed following the voice would kill her - especially as in my first play, Jess was long dead by that point... So her voice echoing down a hallway was a cue to run away fast. Chris was also dead though, Ashley was left behind alone because she wanted to close the grate, and Sam and Emily were just like "Yeah whatevz but we're going ahead, catch up!". Which seemed a bit harsh, it only took her a couple of seconds!

Played the game. Thought it was really good.

I tried to survive with everyone on my first try and got extremely close.. I didn't make it with everyone just because of the final decision. I ended up surviving with Matt, Jessica, Chris & Sam (and technically Josh I guess but he transformed into a Wendigo or whatever that ending was supposed to mean)... I messed up running for the switch instead of saving Mike. That got Mike, Emily & Ashley killed. I wasn't really thinking when I decided to run for the switch... I thought the others were close enough to the door to escape as well lol.

My top 2 favorite characters were Matt and Jessica and they probably each got the least screen time. That's the only thing I didn't really like. But still a really fun game and might try a second time after a while.

Oh and reading on some of the other possibilities after playing the game, I can't believe I got so close to having 0 deaths. I made some insanely clutch decisions... which is what I wanted but I definitely feel like I have to play it again for more of the suspense involved in it. I just kinda wish I didn't look anything up after so that I could play it again not knowing what the other outcomes would be.

What I liked about this is that I could make the characters do the smart things for the most part. Unlike in actual horrors where people will split up, investigate sounds, and do all kinds of stupid things. There was plenty of control with things like that, making you feel like you're in it and making a difference for the characters' lives.

Yeah I started off assuming that "safe" routes were better than "quick", but I think actually quick is always best if you're decent at QTE's.

My wife doesn't know the playstation button layout very well and was in control of Mike running after Jess... Stumbled too many times and that's what got her killed
