Default Do you eat out of date food?

I have a phobia of eating anything even a day over it's best before, I had a jacket potato for tea and I was going to have crispy bacon on it but ut was yesterdays date so I was going to throw it out and my step Dad was like no way I'll eat that in the morning and I felt ill

No

I'm so paranoid with food it's unreal.

I don't eat bread if it's been opened for more than a day.

Are you sure it's out of date though? Some foods have Best Before Dates and some have Use By Dates. The former is still safe to eat a while after the food expires, whereas the Use By date means it must be consumed before the date shown.

Sure, they always play it safe with the dates so a day or two will always be fine. Can just use your common sense anyway going by the smell/taste/appearance if you're worried

To answer the question. No.

But if it's a day or two after the date, then I'll go ahead and eat it presuming it looks and smells fine.

Yes.
Only thing not to touch are shellfish, corned beef if it has been opened a couple of days or fresh chicken that is out of date.
Yoghurt is ok a day of two but not weeks out of date.
Most fresh food is okay a few days out of date, tinned food can be months out of date, jam can be a good 6 months out of date as long as it is not opened.
My rule is if it looks ok, smells ok and is not slimey then it is ok.

Oooops, read it wrong and put no.

Depends on the food, bacon is fine as it is either smoked or salted which preserves it. Veg is fine and cheese. Fish or chicken nope

Some foods I might eat a couple of days afterwards but I tend to be pretty fussy about things like that

Had a tin of spaghetti that was about 5 months out of date for lunch the other day. Those tins never go out of date really though

That would annoy me. Bread's increasing in price. Do you buy a new loaf every day?

I've noticed with sausages that they tend to tasty funny a day or so before they go out of date, so I normally throw them.

Yeah, a week or so out of date doesn't hurt providing it looks fine.

Maybe a day if there's nothing left to eat, but I always try and get the best dates on foods so don't have the problem often
