There's no comparing the plan between Bernie and Donald. Donald is literally lowering the taxes for the richest people in America by 20%. Either way, words are just words, and if this bill passes we'll see who is right in 4 years time.

No. I accept that people are entitled to protest even if I disagree with them.

I wouldn't say so, it's not too late to protest the democratic process and demand changes for 2020.

Of course not, but I doubt they took to the streets with a view to 2020

Either way they are entitled to protest peacefully on both counts. The winner of the election won when they didn't have the most votes. Both the system and the result is flawed.

I edited the OP. The protests are organized by Socialist Advantage/Socialist Alternative. I was going to add last night, but I was so tired and my laptop didn't have much juice left for me to look up good sources.

Unless the system was changed without public knowledge then i don't see the issue, it needs reform but then so does our system

As for the protesting from what I saw last night...

Most of the people who were interviewed skewed young. Some didn't seem to know, or at least fully understand, what they were protesting (and looked like they were having a good time). One guy was just there to "support the protesters" even though he doesn't really agree with them... just a strange affair.

The ones that did know, were calling for him to be impeached and some were angry that Bernie didn't get the nomination. Hillary's name wasn't brought up really as it was more a consensus of the democratic party being too weak to nominate anyone better than Trump.

A fair few talked to CNN and seemed resigned to the result, but wanted to make their feelings apparent for whatever it meant, a peaceful objection the result, because they said they awoke to fear this morning and this was an outlet for their anger and fears of oppression... others were obviously heavily involved activists and they were going to keep protesting for the things they believe in for as long as needed....

All pretty understandable given the things he's said during his campaign and the emotions it has stirred for many people. The crowds seemed very well mixed, if not skewed young. (The one guy there to support the protesters protesting was old though )

Anyway, these people have woken up to an America they don't really recognize (if even out of naivety) so I think that the shock is highly understandable...

Also this is an awesome sign (on the left) greatly sums up their effort

would these protesters support hillary if she went to war with russia and Iran, likely yes, they are the sort of people who want something for nothing, if hillary threw free money at them in turn support her wars, they would support her 100 percent.

If you'd read the thread then you'd know that most of them don't actually support Hillary

I understand the protesters frustrations and annoyance but they may be worrying too soon.

Of course the electoral college system needs looking at and is clearly unrepresentative of actual voting now.

However this man, I think anyway, never expected to be in this position, he has gone from resembling a mad bull to a mouse in just 2 days.
I think he sees the enormity of the task ahead and is actually probably totally unprepared for it,knowing 'all' the decisions he now makes, he will have to be fully accountable for.

Which may mean certainly for his first 2 years he will sort of have to let himself be controlled by his party and advisors on his mission, whatever that mission is now post the election rather than before.
Then after 2 years, he has to start thinking about the next election coming 2 years later, with all the build up and then a years campaigning almost again.

Americans against him come what may, should be looking at ensuring, and the Democrat party particularly should, that he is a one term President.
It could be a 2nd term would be his strongest as to his past rhetoric once he has new confidence and has worked his way round the presidential duties and system.

He is at present like a totally different person following this win, almost now like a rabbit caught in the headlights.
I am starting to think that Trump the president will possibly be nothing at all like Trump the candidate.
All Mister loudmouth on the campaign trail but now that is over really using his ears, both of them, once he takes proper office as president.

Which then will more likely than not end up really dismaying and annoying far more those who voted for him, rather than those who did not.

I'm not surprised at all he toned down his personality. I think he is capable of being humble and conciliatory to others, which is why he doesn't leave only enemies in his wake, but people who do speak overly enthusiastically of him. So apparently he's two faced in that respect

Anyway, personally I don't care whether they protest or not, because that is their right, as long as it's peaceful. Both sides of the aisle have been threatening to put a gun to our heads so to speak for voting or feeling a certain way. i.e. threats of more violence if they don't get their way. I'm just glad that at least so far it has been peaceful and is sparking a conversation in the media.

There are things that aggravate me about this country, like our tendency to police others around the globe. Then there are things that I love about my country... which is the right to freedom of speech, freedom to protest and our strong democracy.

They can protest and be on CNN at night for the next 365 days and it won't bother me. It's amazing cardio to walk the city and to be honest, a good way to meet other people and to reach out and meet other people you would otherwise not be able to meet. Maybe even people you'd not necessarily agree with (because opposites attract in these crowds). However, there is a point when these protests or movements need to get beyond the anger... for some that is violence and it's what I fear most... but then you know, if nothing has been done for you and this strongly affects you, then it surely beats sitting around and doing nothing about it. If Trump had lost, then I think that those of his supporters would (and should) be doing the same thing. This is how democracy works.

Besides, we know those in Washington sometimes have a hearing problem... maybe from all those years spent living the same mindset, listening to the same arguments... sometimes seeing is believing.

Great points Joey. Looking at Trump slumped in his chair beside the classy Presidential Obama I had the same thoughts as you.
He cynically exploited the paranoia and racial tensions within the country to cause further division and fear for his own narcissistic egotistical desires - he wanted to WIN at all costs. But does he actually really want the job itself? For now he has got it, he has hypocritically done a U - Turn and is even praising 'crooked Hillary' who he wanted to jail a week ago. As you say, the mad bull has become a mouse.
Better he stays that way... for otherwise America is in for 4 years of racism, sexism, xenophobia and homophobia - all the things it has worked to abolish over the years will have been for nothing, and lord knows what will come of it.
But then, many Americans wanted him and his hateful rhetoric and now they have him - and I too don't think he's going to deliver what they expect, or in the way they expect him to...I hope not anyway, for all our sakes...

Jinxed!

At the risk of repeating myself from the OP... well that didn't take long... I wonder if this will be deleted by his new Chief of Staff or campaign manager.
