Building is starting soon and they're going to have to close half the set whilst it's happening!

They're rebuilding it too, along with an extension containing new places.

Apparently building it properly (half the houses are just wooden facades as apparently it was only built as "temporary" in 1984) so they're building on a bigger scale and to make it look more realistic in HD.

Replaced with an overground or something I don't quite get it.

But they're building the set the opposite way around, so "Walford Towers", which is visible behind the car lot won't be visible there anymore so they're going to say it's being closed down ready for demolition . I think they say the new old couple are rehoused from those flats to the Slater house flat.

But because of the new layout of the set, there's no more space for George Street so it's gone.

I just looked again, apparently the new space they're building on they will rebuild the Square and stuff. Then when they move filming onto the new Square, they'll demolish the old one and build the new places onto that bit.
