I don't actually know the answer. Somebody asked me like ten years ago, and it still kinda bugs me.
You'd first think knifes and forks, because everyone you know, and the restaurants near your house would own several.. but then you think of all the countries that rarely use these utensils, and all the poverty-stricken villages that would have few-to-none in a mile radius, and the question gets pretty impossible to answer. And I need answers.

As said above, not everybody uses knife and forks. |

Well, if everyone has enough knives and forks in their house for each person living there, then you could say that there's the same of each!

Fun question. Every person doesn't have just one knife and fork each in their homes. My wife and I, for instance, have 12 knives and 10 forks in our drawer (yes, I did that).
So that would balance out the countries that didn't use any. So about equal maybe?

For some reason, my knife to fork ratio is about 4:1

You never see anyone get arrested for carring a fork.

Definitely more knives and forks. I expect that in countries like the UK, the US and most of Europe that there is at least twenty times as many knives and forks as people

Knives and forks, they are mass produced so even if they're not bought and sitting in a drawer somewhere they still exist, and that's without even counting the plastic ones you can buy massive packs of in supermarkets

So including the unowned, knifes and forks win? But what about the owned ones alone (its the only way I've thought about the question tbh!) obviously plastic don't count, they're imposters.

If you only include owned I'd be inclined to say people, since the countries where people don't own any are more likely to outnumber those who do and have more than they need.

The number of restaurants and pubs that own dozens of sets of knives and forks still means there's a lot more of them than people I think. The only way I think it might be close is if you're just talking about the knives and forks owned in domestic homes and even then I think knives and forks would win
