So they are still possible to have.

But they seem rather limited to the serious debate forum.
Which could be a good thing, or a bad thing, depending on how you look at it.

I hate to sound stereotypical/judgemental, but I think age often comes into the situation.

The majority of younger members post excessively...

I dont think that you can class age as a problem..... the site has always had various ages for years and years and yet we've always maintained a balanced forum and post responces.

I would much rather have quality than it be a race to the finish
this thread doesnt help

Ah well, 18+ sections usually tend to have swearing in them...
Some forums even have 18+ sections with sexually explicit material.

I don't think that would be good for TiBB's image.

I think most young members who are a little immature and post excessively, usually text type too...or say inappropriate things. So most of them are probably dealt with.

And of course, older members can be just as guilty for excessive posting.

I agree BigSister, +1-1 games take their toll. Also, when you have an active graphics request thread and lots of fan-made designs to share...

I don't think that post counts should be deleted, but I do think that features that encourage people to post, such as the "Today's Top Poster" box and showing the member list ordered by who has the most posts could be removed.

Why dont we start a petition, explaining how we should get rid of post count, i mean - what real meaning has it got? and what does it bring to the site?

I think at the moment, people probably think i have been posting mad, the only reason i have been posting alot is due to me wanting to try and carry on really good threads that have been destroyed by members that leave just one word answers.

I may be contridicitng myself a little - lol

I find it annoying too, its not about how many posts the person has its about what is in the post.

Your right, TiBB doesnt exculed young members, and its good that all ages are welcome.

I have had great debates in the past with younger members, Corkie, Zolia, Kore just for example.

Corkie was 12 when he joined and he was a great, thoughful and inteligent poster

so and over 18 section would just turn into a flirting and swearing fest

I hate to say it...
But I think a few people might gain a little insentive for posting, due to the post count.

They might not post excessively, but knowing their post count is slowly rising is a somehow comforting feeling for some members.

If we're all equal, with no post counts, it would most definitely stop people from excessive posting [unless they were just plain immature/spamming.]

But like I said, some people do find a slightly enhanced reason to post from knowing their post count is increasing. Removing it completely might damage the activity of the forum.
