Ahh the tasks in Borneo are amazing. So creative and varied. Like creating a distress signal is such a far cry from anything you get in modern Survivor.

I'm really not that big a fan of Colleen... There's quite an arrogant air about her? And "when Greg and I go off into the woods it's all about sex...it's a really passionate affair" made me cringe.
It's interesting how you notice the little subtle things on a re-watch. I'm seeing the Pagong tribe dynamics so much more clearly this time. Like, Greg, Jenna, Colleen, and to an extent Joel are clearly really tight, and then Gervase and Gretchen are kinda outcasts? I bet the younger ones don't like Gretchen very much lol. Also, I didn't remember Jenna being such a central Pagong character. I think she alone has more than half of the Pagong confessionals, so it makes sense she was broguht back for AS. Lmao at Richard tormenting the snake. My favourites are largely the same... still love Sue, Sean and Jenna. I appreciate Kelly more this time. Also RIchard's not bothering me at all this time. Such an iconic character! |

Just in case anyone still thinks Jeff Varner isn't a complete piece of **** (the number of people on this forum feeling worse for HIM is still kinda harrowing to me tbh)

I find the videos used in Borneo and other early seasons instead of an actual loved one's visit so much more poignant.
The Jenna thing was horrible, and part of me feels there would have been a way for Jeff to tell her that was less hard. But I guess revealing it at the start would have put a dampener on everyone else. It's crazy seeing how pioneering Richard, Kelly and Sue were. Richard is a master of understanding people and the wider game, Kelly is just so cutthroat ("if you wanted to make bosom buddies, you should have gone to summer camp"), and Sue is just so cold in her pushing away any ideas of other alliances. Richard fancying Greg is a scream |

I don't understand why the hell Kelly voted for Sean? Like what was the point in throwing away a vote and jeopardising your alliance's trust for you when you're not actually making a move?

Borneo really confuses me in the sense that Sue and Rich keep saying that Kelly has been plotting with the other side. But they're not mentioning the plainly obvious fact that Kelly didn't vote with them twice? I just don't understand it. The editing is a bit odd sometimes, like we don't know where the Kelly/Sue argument came from.

I hate saying it but Wiglesworth's Borneo game is just awful. Like flipping her vote to Sue is just awful. Well, I mean she should have either voted fo Sue in the first place or forced a tie in an effort to get Rich out.

Ugh Borneo is a true emotional rollercoaster. There's honestly something so rivetting watching the evolution of the game over the course of the season, and how dark it comes. Also, it is probably THE best season for character development. Kelly and Sue's storylines are just spellbinding, and Richard, Sean, Jenna, Colleen, Gervase and plenty of others are crazily watchable.
I literally cried at FTC. Although Borneo does have a few problems (par for course, being the first season and all), there's just something so familiar and comforting about it. |

I also totally forgot how unstraightfoward the Borneo postmerge is? I had it down as a plain 'Pagonging' (I mean it is the namesake and all), but the fracture of the Tagi Four, and the numerous attempts at forming a counter alliance truly keep you percht on the edge of your seat!

I'm embarrassed this is the first I have to say of AO, but Jeff gagging to make Tina fail at the eating challenge was a howl.
Jerri really was such a btich in the beef jerky debacle ![]() |

Another question I have that I know Macie will have the answer for is... did Pagong ACTUALLY like Kelly? Colleen was pretty scathing of her in FTC on a personal level and suggested the others felt the same way, and I got the sense Greg wasn't a huge fan while he was around. |
