Definitely a fork and I thought about why just now and realized it's because I have rice as a side plate (or on the same plate next to whatever else I'm eating) and that other meat or chicken etc. usually needs a fork. So I'm not gonna keep switching utensils when I'm eating the meat and the rice. Then I got used to always eating rice with a fork even if I don't need to use a fork for whatever else I'm eating with it.

with a fork, never had it with a spoon unless the spoon was purely there to scoop up any excess sauce - like if i was having a stroganoff
