Because I watch the news (Boris Johnson has been barely out of it this year and was already a household name before that). Why do I need to know (after all, I don’t live in London either)? Because people being out of touch with what’s going on in the World is dangerous. That makes it easy for people like the tabloids or the BNP to dupe you into believing whatever they want you to. They pray on our ignorance. It's why, for example, so many Americans think we only invaded Northern Ireland in the last few years (it was over 800 years ago) and end up financing the IRA.
8) The word “condiments” is widely used in homes, cafés, restaurants and pubs. It’s an everyday word. Sorry, but it is!

I've heard of Tony Blair. I've heard of George Bush. I've never heard of Boris Johnson, if he's done anything that important I'm sure I would know, but I don't.
I never ever use the word condiments, never heard of it before I read the first post, just because you know it, and maybe some other people, doesnt mean everyone else does and uses it everyday, why say condiments when you can just say its name and not confuse people who dont know what it means?
The other points I suppose your right, but I dont think some of them got into the Highlights and I only watch the highlights so I cant exactly defend Rachel if I've never heard her say the other things.

so when someone asks you if you'd like a condiment what will you answer? ... "stop making me brains hurt!!" ... do you know what a potatoe is ...or what's more commonly know as "CHIPS" or "MASH"
