Question Have Any Of You Played Mafia II?

I got this game for Christmas and I sort of took a chance when getting it because I've heard tons of bad reviews and people slagging it off saying the game copies Grand Theft Auto

Well I got it anyway and gave it a try the other night and it blew me away.
Yeah it might not have the stunning graphics Grand Theft Auto IV had but it's certainly fantastic, Infact it's for me abit more enjoyable than GTA IV.

It isn't as long as I'd of hoped, I hate short games and I doubt I'll ever play this again after I complete it but seriously it's got almost everything!

One thing that I enjoyed was the weather in the game, The first few chapters are done in the snow.

Which is really something because no other game really uses snow.

It would be amazing if Grand Theft Auto 5 has snow in it, like seasons that go on throughout the game because it really adds a new atmosphere to the whole game.

Bully [Canis Canem Edit] and Red Dead Redemption are the only two games I've seen with snow until this came along.

There's some times when you actually can't start your car up fast because of the coldness, or you see people walking about and falling on the ice, or you crash and slide off the road etc etc

Really alot of detail, Especially crashing I mean when you crash in this you get so annoyed because you own your own car in this game so it's kind of like, you're not going to get out and get in another car, this is your pride and joy.

The game is set in the 1940s and you can see 2K did their research in making sure they got everything spot on, the only fault is...
You collect Playboy Magazines in the game as a collectable, and Playboy didn't release their magazine until the early 50s, but its all good, I haven't complained and no one else has.

One reviewer said the town Empire's Bay, which is a small version of New York, is dull and doesn't have much life.
That's complete lies, The town is the most realistic thing in the game because of the way it seems normal.
This isn't like most games, where you're constantly shooting people or running over people, in Mafia II you feel like you're there and you get up, you take your car for a car wash or something and have a bite to eat in the Kebab Shop before going to do your mission, it's very 'role play-ish' in a way.

The last thing I want to mention is something I just seen before I posted this.

In the game, you get arrested in the morning when you leave your house.
What I love about this, is again it's realistic.
You're not made to walk into some bloody Red Marker or a Arrow and then arrested, I really wasn't prepared to be arrested.

I woke up and had planned what I was doing for that day in the game and, BANG it was all took away and he was thrown in jail.
This was part of the story by the way, It wasn't for killing anyone, Infact it was for stealing something in a mission I did way at the start of the game.

So it's kind of like, your pass caught up with you.

Anyway, I've always wanted a Xbox Game where you go to Jail and this game literally puts you in the Prison experience, It's outstanding.
You feel like you're there and get so caught up in it all.

The main character is sentenced to 10 Years in Jail, which I thought was abit harsh of course when you get out,

It's 1951 and it's a whole new decade of course.

The game changes dramatically really, the whole town looks brighter.

Although personally, I much preferred it when it was snowing.

I'm not sure if any of you lads on here have this game, you may of played the horrific first one and not picked this one up, but seriously give it a shot.

The only bad thing is, that it's short but other than that there's alot of twists and turns along the way and the game really is brilliant.

There's rumours of a third, but most people on the other forums want Rockstar to pick it up and make a third instead of 2K.

I think Rockstar are a little busy with GTA V at the moment, right?
So I don't think that'll happen.

But anyway, have any of you played this game or thought about getting it?
