Default Real life Batman...

A caped crusader known as the 'real-life batman' who became instantly famous after being stopped by traffic cops last week has been identified as Lenny B Robinson and has spoken for the first time about the man behind the mask.

Mr Robinson, a charity worker who regularly visits sick children in hospitals across Montgomery County in the US.

The replica of Gotham City's Dark Knight hit the headlines around the globe when he was pulled over by the police while dressed in full Batman attire, complete with his very own Batmobile.

It left observers wondering the secret identity of the kind-hearted hero, who was given a ticking off by traffic cops for covering up his number plates with a Batman logo.

The successful businessman has been visiting children's hospitals dressed in full superhero attire for over 10 years.

He just hopes his visits cheer up the patients, who are fighting a wide range of serious illnesses.

'I’m just doing it for the kids,' Mr Robinson told the Washington Post.

'Eventually, it sinks in and you become him. It feels like I have a responsibility that’s beyond a normal person.

'And that responsibility is to be there for the kids, to be strong for them, and to make them smile as much as I can.'

The 48-year-old spent an estimated £3,000 on his superhero uniform and splashes out another £15,000 annually on presents he gives out to children on every visit.

Jeffrey Dome, an oncology specialist at a children’s hospital visited recently by Batman, paid tribute to Mr Robinson's work.

'These visits provide an immediate boost for these kids,' he said.

'Some of these children have to stay for weeks or months at a time. That wears down the children and it wears down the family.

'You have to keep up morale. A visit from a superhero is sort of like a fantasy in the middle of all this hard-core therapy.
