Talking 'Star Trek' fans marry in UK's first Klingon ceremony...

A Swedish couple who are huge fans of the Star Trek franchise have married in the UK's first 'Klingon' wedding.

Jossie and Sonnie Gustavsson exchanged vows - in English and Klingon - last night (October 19) in front of fellow fans and press at a celebration of the 25th anniversary of Star Trek the Next Generation in London.

According to the Daily Mail, the pair were one of a number of couples who volunteered to take part in a Klingon wedding.

The event - organised by Superb Events Ltd and held at London's ExCel - was faithful to ceremonies carried out on the TV series, with traditional Klingon drums replacing the wedding march, a 3m statue of the Klingon god overlooking the witnesses and giant flames surrounding the couple.

The pair donned ceremonial red robes, wigs and face paint before they exchanged vows and staged a mock battle against each other to represent "the struggle of the male and female Klingon hearts".

"Nobody can oppose the beating of two Klingon hearts," said celebrant Peter Wyllie as he "blessed" the couple.

"May the rest of your life be filled with your hearts beating as one."

The audience then joined in a chorus of chants blessing 'yln' [life], 'bathlh' [honour] and 'qapla' [success] upon the newlyweds.

The Gustavssons even carried the Star Trek theme through to their three-tiered wedding cake - specially created over three days by London cake designer Charlotte White - which took the shape of a Borg Cube spacecraft.

"When I was a little girl, I dreamed of a wedding in a big church, with a white dress and a beautiful cake, just like every other girl," 22-year-old Jossie told The Independent.

"It was [Sonnie's] idea," she added. "I looked at him. I said 'Are you nuts?' Then I thought, 'You know, why not? It is something we will remember for the rest of our lives."

Congratulations to them!
