Default Should Santa only bring small presents?

Every year I see it on facebook - people saying that Little Timmy wonders why Santa only brought him a box of chocolates and a broken charity shop Starscream, while he gave Mildred from school a Sodor Island playset, a million Pokemon card, and a Nintendo Switch.

Do you think all parents should be encouraged to make the "from Santa" presents smaller and inexpensive, so it doesn't seem like Santa likes them more?

My "Santa presents" were always things would could conceivably be made in a workshop - instead of branded lumps of plastic, they were wooden toys or traditional games, stuff like that.
