Default SCALA RADIO launches March 4 with Simon Mayo, Kermode and Goldie!

FORMER Radio 2 host Simon Mayo is to join a classical radio station start-up after quitting the BBC – alongside drum and bass DJ Goldie and little-known ex-CBBC host Angellica Bell.

The broadcaster quit the Beeb's popular Drivetime show last October and will unveil new network Scala this week ahead of its launch on March 4 with a new 10am until 1pm show.

According to Bauer, who own the new station, Mayo’s show will be a mix of celebrity interviews, listener interaction and a new re-imagined ‘Classical Confessions’ – a spin on his Radio 2 feature that invited listeners to share their shameful secrets.

“There are hundreds of radio stations playing rock and pop, and only two classical music stations [Radio 3 and Classic FM] up until now,” Mayo said.

Horrible photoshop job
