I dont understand why the HBO execs couldnt see how good the show was and then plugged it. It only became popular and got the attention it deserved when it became well know worldwide. The first two seasons of the Wire didnt get a rating on IMDB until the whole series finished. It was a greatly under appreciated show. I'm happy that I got into it back in 2003

Considering the shows popularity now I could imagine the HBO execs regretted ending this show so soon. Maybe the show being very raw or maybe the Emmys always going for safer options is why the show flew under the radar for so long? Like you say it’s very under appreciated I can’t believe it first aired in 2002 and it’s taken this long for me to discover it
