something I've wanted to do for a while but I've never been brave enough to venture any further back than the late 80s albums. So over the last week or so I listened to every single album (luckily they're all relatively short) which wasn't easy because some aren't even on any streaming services.. luckily trusty Youtube was there for me. So I decided to rank them similar to what I did with Kylies albums a few weeks ago.
It's kind of hard to rank Chers albums properly because theres such a difference between her 60s/70s stuff compared to her modern stuff.. and each decade she switches genre.. but anyway.. I put a fave song from each album in a spoiler
26-21
Spoiler:
26
The Sonny Side of Cher (1966)
Theres no real reason for this one to be last, it was just my least favourite of her early stuff.
22
Dancing Queen (2018)
I had to put at least 1 later album lower on the list. Obviously the songs are catchy because its Abba but Cher needs to put that autotuner down.
21
All I Really Wanna Do (1965)
Her very first album, its actually pretty good, I found it a lot more enjoyable than the few that came after it listed above.
12
Cher (1987)
This album helped reignite her music career in the late 80s and you can see why, with a heavy rock inspired sound that was at its height back then.
4
not.com.mercial (2000)
written by Cher and recorded in 1994, her label rejected it at the time so she released it 6 years later free online. Her song writing skills really show on this album and the production is some of her best, I have no idea why her label rejected it. Its also the only album where Cher swears, so thats nice..
3
I'd Rather Believe In You (1976)
This, along with Cherished and Stars are the 3 albums never released on CD or
available to stream. I dont know why because this album is one of her best pieces of work.
2
Heart of Stone (1989)
This album has 2 covers, but this one looks like a skull.. which makes it better. Just a very solid album, some big hits and great production.
1
Believe (1998)
It probably seems like such an obvious choice, considering its her biggest selling album and obviously has 'Believe' on it.. but it actually is a very good album filled with 90s euro pop songs. I cant deny that it was definitely the one I enjoyed listening to the most.
