DC all the way. Far more interesting characters imo. As far as the movies, though Marvel admittedly has DC over a barrel as far as creating a cohesive and critically/financially successful cinematic universe, I would also still stump for DC for the precise reason that most of their movies came about before cinematic universes were the hot commodity they currently are.
And so most of DC's movies, for good or ill, are closer to being auteur cinema as opposed to a cookie cutter conveter belt of interchangeable meh. If you watch Tim Burton's Batman, you know you're watching his vision for Batman. Same goes for Schumacher, same for Nolan. Watch Richard Donner's Superman and you know you're watching Richard Donner's vision for that character.
Similarly, Marvel's best stuff imo was when the likes of Sam Raimi, Ang Lee and Bryan Singer were making their movies. Very personal, very creative and idiosyncratic takes on the respective characters they undertook, and not nearly as much blandly decided by committee.
