The fourteenth season begins with 32 models vying for 14 spots. The contestants are asked to create a social networking-styled profile, including a profile photo and a video of their walk. A final picture requires them to take inspiration from current and past top models. Gabrielle impresses Mr. Jay with her knowledge of the industry, while Tatianna is castigated for electing to emulate an actress (Megan Fox) rather than a model. When decision time dawns, Tyra reveals that only 12 had been selected, and they would travel to New York City where they will meet the thirteenth contestant.

Upon arrival, they meet Perez Hilton and begin a tour of the Madame Tussauds Wax Museum. Later, they are introduced to Ren, who had been scouted by Tyra and the production staff. Makeovers are administered shortly after. Anslee and Brenda are upset to have their hair cut short; Krista is unhappy that her hair is slicked back.

The girls move into their house and disagreements erupt between many girls. They are then taken to their first photo shoot, where it is revealed that each will be posing nude aside from one article of clothing. The episode ended with a cliffhanger, to be shown next episode.

The girls' first photo shot will require them to pick one article of clothing from a full-dressed mannequin. The girls' choices are:

Most of the girls perform well, especially Angelea, Jessica and Ren, while Alasia, Gabrielle and Krista struggle. At panel, Vogue Editor-at-large André Leon Talley joins as a permanent judge. Gabrielle’s photo is deemed as forgettable. Alasia’s photo was considered weak by Tyra, Nigel and guest judge Sally, however, André has deemed it "raw and bold." Despite this, Alasia landed with Gabrielle in the bottom two. In the end, André's point of view on Alasia's photo won the other judges over, and Gabrielle was shockingly sent home.

The girls meet Ms. J for a runway teach about pacing and removing coats while walking. They are then challenged to walk down a busy Manhattan intersection while practicing what they have just learnt. The next day, the girls have to walk in a Rachel Roy fashion show at Lower Manhattan’s Surrogate Courthouse. The catch is that they have to time their walks perfectly if not they will get hit by two swinging pendulums on the runway. Some girls struggle with their timing, most notably Alexandra, who trips down the stairs, gets knocked off the runway by a pendulum, injures her knee and inadvertently tears her dress. Brenda wins the challenge and gets to keep her dress. Jessica, who was called first at the previous judging, also gets to keep her dress.

The week’s photo shoot requires the girls to shine through wind and rain to advertise a fast-disappearing perfume. Nigel deems Ren’s photo as an advert for swine flu, while Naduah’s classic, ad-style photograph is seen as contrary to her edgy look. In the end, it’s Naduah who is eliminated.

The girls receive a surprise visit from cycle 3 contestant Toccara Jones, who puts their fashion knowledge to the test. This week's photo shoot is dance-inspired and forces the girls to pose while demonstrating their fancy footwork.
