Hey all
![]() Quick question for anyone in-the-know. Basically, I've been offered a job with a supermarket. &they gave me the dates for my induction &told me that they require my birth certificate & national insurance card. Now I have my birth certificate, but I'm rather unsure as to where my N.I. card is atm.. it's definitely at either mine or my parents but we've all been hunting and can't find it. The company told me they can't give me the job without both documents. However, according to this site, it states "The card is a useful reminder of your National Insurance number but it is not proof of your identity and you don’t need to have one to start work. It’s your National Insurance number that’s important not the card." If they REALLY need proof, I have a wage slip from my last job with details on it which I'd have thought would be more useful but apparently they need the card. :| If they have to turn me down, I've got another job option I could take but I won't start for a while. Where do I stand on this?
