The lovebirds were spotted acting “coupley” as they wined and dined in the Gazette restaurant in Battersea, south London.

Last night a source close to the couple – who were married in 2006 and divorced in 2007 – said the pair could be moving towards a full-time reunion.

The source said: “It seems their totally different backgrounds had played a big part in splitting them last time but it’s very different now. She is a fully-fledged star on the same level as him and they are both very comfortable with who they are."

However it seems the meal didn’t end quite so romantically after the former Ordinary Boys singer, 28, left his ex-wife to pick up the tab.

Our spy continued: “They finished their meal but then when it came to the payment, it seemed Chantelle was left with the bill. I only saw her pay, not Preston, and I think she paid for both of them. I thought that was a bit strange.”
