¯\_(ツ)_/¯

1. Toy Story 3 - just ludicrously emotional and the perfect goodbye to my generation's youth
2. Inception - brilliantly executed, great cast, great effect/action 3. Kick-Ass - amazing soundtrack, lots of laugh-out-loud moments, nice story. 4. The Social Network - quite tense, fast-paced despite its themes, very dark, great story. 5. The Kids Are All Right - great subjects, very 'Little Miss Sunshine' in its comical tackling of otherwise taboo and sensitive family issues. Great acting by Julianne Moore and Annette Benning 6. Black Swan - beautiful aesthetics, tense and creepy atmosphere and great acting by Natalie Portman. A little cliché (the jealous, pressuring mother; the unprofessional, womanising director; the prim and proper ballerina) but otherwise a great film. 7. Red - hilarious. Not enough Morgan Freeman, but more than plenty Helen Mirren ![]() 8. Easy A - A little irritating and obnoxious to begin with but redeemed itself within half an hour and then some. 9. Machete - also hilarious. Lindsay Lohan and Robert De Niro's cameos make it - and the gore is more silly than offputting. 10. Iron Man 2 - great sequel. Good action, great cast, everything Transformers 2 wasn't. 11. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows (Part 1) - pretty faithful to the book, emotional in all the right places and whilst my inner boy mourned some exclusions, it was generally testament. 12. Scott Pilgrim vs. The World - I liked the abundance of video game references, and once it got into its stride it was very entertaining, but it took about half an hour for anything to happen. 13. Knight and Day - not as bad as I thought it would be - I like Cruise and Diaz, and the story was nice. 14. Salt - pleasant enough action film: lots of silly effects, Jolie looking fine, but a bit cliché. 15. The Sorcerer's Apprentice - took my little brother & niece to see it, and it was surprisingly good. Nicholas Cage has had a brilliant year. Nice story, good effects, bit corny but it's a Disney kids movie... 16. The Other Guys - I made the mistake of watching it on my own. Ferrell is his usual character - odd, eccentric, but lovable, and full of good quotes. Wahlberg is an interesting choice of comedy sidekick, and provides most of the laughs. Samuel L Jackson/The Rock's cameo = great. But otherwise it's lacking in pace. Movies I've yet to get around to see: Predators, Dinner For Schmucks, Shutter Island, Harry Brown Movies yet to be released I'm dying to see: Tron: Legacy, True Grit
