Exclamation Yeo Valley Adverts Set To Challenge X Factor For Christmas Number One 2010!

Last year it was Rage Against The Machine - this year a rap song selling milk is set to challenge The X Factor winner for the coveted Christmas No 1 slot.
The music from the Yeo Valley advert - which features four rustic rappers 'bigging up' the West Country dairy's products - has become hugely popular since it was first shown during the show's commercial breaks.

The Sunday after it was first aired it went on to be featured as a 'top trend' on Youtube's home page - and since then has been watched 2.5m times online.

The advert sees the unlikely rap stars dressed in flat caps and wellies, and features the lyrics 'rollin' with my Massey on a summer's day' - in reference to the quartet's tractor.

It was made by Los Angeles based director Julien Lutz, who has made music videos for a host of stars including R Kelly, Usher, Kanye West and Nelly Furtado.

Among the 'rappers' in the advert is 21-year-old Alexandra Evans, who was the winner of the fourth series of Britain's Next Top Model.

'I'm really surprised so many people like it,' she said of the song. 'Getting the Christmas No 1 is a long shot but who knows?'

Yeo Valley, which is based in Somerset, has committed to showing the commercial exclusive during breaks in The X Factor, at a cost of £5m.

The track was released for download via iTunes due to public demand, after Facebook groups calling for its release were set up and fans took to Twitter to air their views.

Among those who have shown their support for the track are Radio 1 DJ Zane Lowe, who is known as a champion of new music.
'Must be intimidating for The X Factor finalists to have to compete with the infinitely better Yeo valley crew each week,' he recently said on his Twitter page.

A spokeperson for the dairy added, 'It's not your usual chart topper but the positive response from the public suggests people want to hear it in the top 40.'
