List your favourite films where English is not the spoken language. Eeeasy as that.
German: Good Bye, Lenin! - beautiful film. Das Leben der Anderen (The Lives of Others) - likewise. Tragic that the star of the movie died only a year after it was made. Lola Rennt (Run, Lola, Run) Gegen die Wand (Head-On) - we studied the films of Fatih Akin for A Level...I recommend all of them really. They tackle a lot of gritty subjects and whilst the films are somewhat uncomfortable viewing, they're powerful. Metropolis - pioneering. Spanish: Y Tu Mama Tambien - drugs, beaches, sexual experimentation, roadtrips, teenagers - perfect revelry film that somehow manages to pluck poignancy out of the air by the end. Glue - an Argentinean film about a sexually-confused teenager...it's got some great scenery, and it's...hot *blushes* Volver - intense, gripping stuff and it really roped me in. French: Amelie - just...brilliant. Clever, funny, tragic, cute and...actually makes me consider living in rural France. Multiple-language: Babel - English, Spanish, Japanese, Arabic - great editing of 3 totally different moving stories |
