Generally my friends know, if it comes up in conversation (which it does occasionally) I mention I use forums but it's never been a big deal. I'm not embarrassed about using a forum; I'm private about what I do online though - I don't want people stalking me from age 13-20 on this forum . Weirdly, one of my friends here in Germany knows a TiBB member, it's never been brought up in conversation but I'm sure she would have noticed the mutual friend when we added each other on Facebook... I've since deleted said member when I went all anal about my privacy again so now she'll never be able to just bring it up without admitting she'd noticed and hadn't mentioned it .
