Even if they didn't say much it gets people thinking about her. When I caught a glimpse of the show even I automatically thought about her. It keeps Denise in the publics consciousness and the other housemates don't have something like that everyday to remind viewers that they are not where they normally are if you get what I mean.

And there was this one message from a viewer called Denise...they then went out of their way to say 'not our Denise'! As if it would be her such a name drop there!
