Default Rangers-mad James Arthur to perform for players and fellow fans at Ibrox

IBROX bosses are hoping they will have the honour of staging the X Factor star's first Scottish gig after the show finishes next weekend.

X FACTOR star James Arthur is to perform in front of thousands of fellow Rangers fans after the club invited him to sing at Ibrox.

Gers-mad James, 24, was thrilled when bosses at the club asked if he would come to Glasgow and do a gig for the players and fans.

The singer, who last night sung to clinch a slot in next week’s final, has followed the club since he was a boy.

And our exclusive picture shows him beaming proudly in his Rangers kit at the age of seven.

James’s Glaswegian dad Neil, 55, who was back in his home town yesterday, said: “It’s a big thrill.

“He’s been a Rangers fan since he was little. The fact that he’ll get to sing at Ibrox is amazing.

“That photograph was taken in 1995. He asked for this strip for Christmas and was so happy when he got it.

“His biggest Rangers idols were Gazza and Ally McCoist.

“He just loved going to watch the team at Ibrox.

“James is getting lots of amazing opportunities but for him, playing at Ibrox will be a real honour. He can’t wait.”

eil, who now lives in Redcar near Middlesbrough, was in Scotland with wife Jacqueline and James’s sister Charlotte.

He was contacted by Rangers chiefs last week asking if James would do the gig after X Factor ends.

But the Ibrox club might have not have the honour of staging the X Factor pin-up’s first Scottish gig.

The singer’s aunt Tracey Neill is landlady of the First and Last pub in Glasgow’s Maryhill Road and she’s wants him to play there.

Tracey, who is married to Neil’s brother Alex, said: “He coming here first, don’t you worry.

“My regulars think I’m kidding when I say that James is my nephew so I’m looking forward to seeing their faces when he comes in.”

racey, whose sons Darren, 23, Graeme, 22, and 16 year-old Callum are very close to James, said the whole family always knew he’d be a star one day.

She said: “We’d go down to Redcar for holidays and I’ll never forget seeing Jamie when he was just 11. He sang the Bryan Adams hit Everything I Do.

“He sang with such emotion, he was like an old soul.”

Neil and the family are hoping the whole of Scotland will get behind James and vote him through to next week’s final.

He is up against boy band Union J and solo singers Jahmene Douglas and Christopher Maloney on tonight’s results show.

But instead of the judges – Louis Walsh, Gary Barlow, Tulisa Contostavlos and Nicole Scherzinger – deciding who will be kicked out, the public votes will determine who goes.

Tonight’s show will also include performances from Pink and Tulisa.

The final takes place next Sunday when the last three remaining contestants face the public vote to see who will be crowned this year’s X Factor champ.

Looks like the few Million Rangers fans in the country will be crowning him the winner just like they did with Leon, Great News.
