Default Green Day, NIN, Placebo, Skrillex to headline Reading/Leeds

Green Day have been confirmed to headline this years Reading and Leeds festivals, joining fellow headline acts Eminem and Biffy Clyro on the line-up.

The US pop-punk icons will perform at Reading on Friday, August 23 before moving on to perform at Leeds Festival on Saturday, August 24. Green Day recently confirmed their return to live action following Billie Joe Armstrong's stint in rehab, and Reading & Leeds Festivals are the band's only UK festival performances of 2013.

Green Day lead a raft of huge names added to the bill for this years Reading & Leeds Festivals with the confirmation that Nine Inch Nails will return to perform at the festival for the first time since 2007. Trent Reznor recently revealed the return of the industrial metal band and they will perform their only UK shows of 2013 at Reading and Leeds this year.

Other new additions to the Main Stage line-up across the three day festival include dubstep duo Chase and Status, rock band Brand New, The Lumineers, Editors, White Lies and Frank Turner. They join previously announced acts such as Foals, Fall Out Boy, Bring Me The Horizon, Deftones and System of a Down on the main stage line-up.

Meanwhile, the NME/ Radio 1 Tent line-up has taken shape with the news that Alt-J and French rockers Phoenix will headline across the weekend. The Friday (August 23) night at Reading and Saturday night at Leeds will also include A$AP Rocky, Major Lazer, Deap Vally, Peace and Bastille.

Previously announced as performing across the weekend, we can reveal that Mercury Music Prize winners Alt-J will headline the Saturday night (August 24) in the NME/ Radio 1 tent at Reading, leaving them to play at Leeds on August 25. Performing before the 'Fitzpleasure' band take to the stage will be Jake Bugg, Tame Impala and Palma Violets.

Finally, joining Phoenix at Reading on August 25 and Leeds on Friday, August 23, will be Azealia Banks, Disclosure, Haim, City & Colour and Alex Clare.

Other artists confirmed to be appearing across the weekend, including acts confirmed for the new for 2013 1Xtra Tent and Dance Tents, will be Wiley, Sub Focus, Baauer, Magnetic Man, Knife Party, Devlin, Swim Deep, Mallory Knox, the Blackout, Hadouken!, Iggy Azalea, New Found Glory, The Strypes, Temples, The 1975, Theme Park, Tomahawk, Twin Atlantic and While She Sleeps.
