stop feeling awkward about it. if he's an attractive man i'm sure he's heard you're cute a few times and that he's ahad a few students giving him the eye.
Maybe that girl didn't tell him anything, sometimes there are just some amazing coincidences. I've learned the hard way that assuming is not a good thing most of the time.
