Oh yeah he definitely started backtracking when she came out to the garden, screaming and pointing in his face. She was pretty intense and he was probably not wanting to blow it up any further by arguing any more about it.
I'm sure he regretted what he said about Carson's dressing room, but considering the amount of BS she has shovelled onto him since the minute they entered the house - i think he has done well to hold his tongue as much as he has, for all that time.
No wonder he cracked at some point and said something back in return. Most people would do if you had someone keep trying to start an argument with you and keep putting you down in front of people all the time. Especially when you try and walk away from it and that person just keeps coming for you. That's probably why he called her a loony.
If only she had kept her mouth shut and not baited him constantly from day one then none of this would have happened.
