This is incorrect. Self-harm is a maladaptive coping strategy, often associated with disorders of peersonality and past trauma. It is not necessarily the result of anyone else's negativity at the point of self harm and can be the result of individuals' intrapersonal difficulties and perceived (sometimes quite wrongly) conflict. Linda did allude to self harm, pointing to her wrists during her interview, but this was quickly brushed over.
Self-harm does not immediately mean Linda would have to be removed as many people self-harm until afforded a more positive, less harmful alternative, and it may have been concluded that the opportunity this show provided her outweighed the current risks in terms of a risk/benefit analysis.
Jim did not make Linda self harm. Linda self-harmed and it may have been due to her relationship with Jim or any other stressor. This is probably not the first time she has done so, and Jiim was unlikely to have been there every time. Hence, if the headline, for which Linda has been paid, states it is his fault, people are within their rights to berate her for what seems to me to be a very low blow.
