it's not just the DM. The guardian, telegraph, metro, etc. all have the same celeb stories. so it crosses all political boundaries, everyone wants the juicy gossip.

and let's not forget that most sports stories aren't just about the games. 1/2 of all sports stories are the same type of celeb gossip about the players, and who is not getting along with who, and who is sleeping with who, so the sports pages are just as salacious.

The Sports pages, which are supposedly so manly and macho, are just as full of bitchy gossip as the celeb gossip sections of the newspaper.
