I get that she's being blamed for being the power housemate and Chris is getting away scot free but why say she was going to keep it a secret in the first place?

It didn't come as a surprise to Chris that Jale told Daneille and Ashleigh. He said in the diary room that she was 'emotionally weak' and he was expecting her to tell someone. Chris is in there with her 24/7 and seems to be a good judge of character. That would explain also why she didn't stand up to being bullied.
It's not as if she told the whole house - she just told those who she was closest to. You'd think she had killed someone the way she is now being vilified. I'm not so fickle as to damn her for one bad judgement. I may yet go off her but it will take more than one mistake...
