The Simpsons producer Al Jean has dismissed a growing fan theory that Homer has been in a coma since 1993. A theory first posted on Reddit posits that Homer never woke up from a coma sustained in the episode 'So It's Come To This: A Simpsons Clip Show', and that every episode since has been in his mind. However, Jean told TMZ: "It would mean back in 1993 we would presume the show was going on for years and years more and right before we left, threw this hidden monkey wrench in for all our successors. "I'm afraid it goes with the 'Dead Bart' episode in the intriguing but false file." The theory also notes how Simpsons episodes began getting more wacky from 1993, and that any celebrity appearances were due to Homer hearing his family talk about the likes of Lady Gaga and Mel Gibson in his hospital room. It also notes that the episode before featured Homer having a chat with God about the meaning of life, with the episode ending before we hear the explanation. Reddit user Hardtopickaname responded to Jean's comments, saying: "This got really big. I'm getting messages about it making the news in Australia, Belgium, and other places. "It made the front page of Yahoo, and TMZ even got a statement from Al Jean about my theory. He says it's not true, but what does he know about The Simpsons?" If true, it would mean that none of the events of The Simpsons Movie were real, and that technically Family Guy and Bob's Burgers are also in Homer's mind after last year's crossover episode. Mind blown. Read more: http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/fun/s195...#ixzz3S1TlDzNp Follow us: @digitalspy on Twitter | digitalspyuk on Facebook
