I think he used to suck his thumb and twiddle his hair , you can tell by his teeth he sucked his thumb and how he constantly touches his hair makes me think he was a sucky thumby twiddly type boy , that's why he touches his face Im guessing all down to self comforting .
He picks his nose because no one smacked his hand when he was little and did it.
