I think Matt has a lot of chances t die as well. On the cliff with the deer, in the mines by the wendigo with no flare, in the mines with Jess by not hiding successfully etc

Matt was barely in my game to get a chance to die! He calmed down some deer, saved himself and let Emily fall with the tower, then reappeared at the very end with a very short section sneaking out of the mine, then he just chillaxed on the side of the cliff until help came. We spent most of the game like "what about that Matt guy?? He left Emily behind and hasn't been seen since..."
