What's wrong with the UK simply returning anyone straight back across the Channel. Perfectly legal under Dublin. Contrary to France's chosen blackmail, they are actually their own problem, not ours.
France remember the legalities to suit themselves, happily forcing people back into Italy as Italy's problem at that border.
