Default Lisa Huo arrested and spared jail for vile trolling

A former Big Brother contestant avoided jail after admitting taunting a grieving woman about her brother's death in a series of Facebook posts.

Lisa Huo, who appeared on the seventh series of the reality TV show, admitted trolling Jennifer Smith on the social media site, mocking her brother Tyler who died after falling off a viaduct in Stockport, Greater Manchester.

The 19-year-old died in October 2014 after threatening to commit suicide to police and medics hours earlier.

Manchester and Salford Magistrates' Court heard Huo, 37, made a number of Facebook posts, aimed at Ms Smith, 30, including one that said she was a 'coward like her brother'.

Ms Smith's mother Deborah Cooper, said Huo began putting up the vile posts following a row with her daughter over tickets to see Beyoncé in Manchester.

Huo reportedly saw a post about a spare ticket on Facebook, but when she got hold of Ms Smith- described as an acquaintance - she discovered it had been sold.

Ms Cooper, 47, said Huo who then reportedly began posting the cruel messages, aimed at Ms Smith, from Altrincham, who she had met on a handful of occasions.

In Facebook Huo, who retrained as a plumber following her 2006 stint on Big Brother, said: 'I'm sure it was suicide which is a cowards way out so your just like your brother then [sic].'

She also mocked a memorial bench to Mr Smith that the family had set up in his memory, posting: 'I'm tired I need a bench to sit on not yours tho I s*** on yours.'

Subsequent posts read: 'Can't find the bench emoji.

'Please make a bench emoji.'

'Benches tho [sic].

She later posted: 'Never block because I like it you can see what write top day with the bro at least he's not a bench.

'Off to see my brother now glad he's not a bench.'

When criticised by a mutual friend, Huo said: 'Feeling proud honey.'

Huo pleaded guilty to sending communications conveying indecent or offensive material, with the aim of causing distress or anxiety.

She was handed a 12-month community order and a two-year non-contact restraining order, forbidding her from contacting Ms Smith.

She will also have to carry out 250 hours of unpaid work and take part in rehabilitation sessions for 15 days.

Huo, of Beswick, Manchester, who appeared on the reality TV show in 2006, was also ordered to pay £620 costs and an £85 victim surcharge.

Mr Smith's death was ruled accidental after a coroner was told by a police officer he slipped from the bridge.
