Unfortunately they just don't have the resources to investigate a lot of things anymore unless it's a serious crime. If you report shoplifting now the police tell you that they won't look into it until you have sent off a statement that you need to do yourself and cctv footage which you have to post at your own expense and won't arrive until a day or two after the offense by which time it's normally too late

I don't blame the police for that though, I don't think they don't care, it's just the reality of policing atm

Exactly - What policing there is none at all for the ordinary person , everyone is being affected by crime and even if you know their names and addresses -and so do the police ! but they have no evidence apparently ! because the do nothing.
