Nope. Write new stories if you don't like the old ones.
I can understand when people say "the princess should rescue herself", but I doubt even Luke Skywalker could break out of a locked room in top of a tower guarded by a dragon without help. If you want to be all modern, then write a story where the princess could feasibly save herself.
Even then, the old stories still have their merit. Snow White eating the poisoned apple shows Stranger Danger, even if the stranger appears to just be an innocent old bag.
