I am sure the mould you get on food like this is some sort of penicillin or it originates from that, can't remember where I heard it but sure it's a fact and scraping mould from jam is apparently ok.
"Jam is a preserve, but the reduced sugar in modern jams means they go mouldy more easily.
But if you scoop off all of the mould and a few centimetres beneath it, to ensure you’ve captured any spores that are impossible to see, then the jam should be safe to eat."
