I rewatched Capt. Marvel a few days ago and I still don't really understand the shade it gets. It's fun and still easily in the top 50% of MCU films

.
My main gripe now though is that I'm also rewatching Agents of Shield and in S1 (when Hydra has revealed itself), Coulson states quite clearly that "Fury recruited him himself when he was just a kid,
fresh out of high school".
...
And in Capt. Marvel, Fury refers to Coulson multiple times as being new to Shield...
Assuming Coulson is roughly the same age as the actor who plays him, he's currently 57. CM is set 24 years ago, making Coulson in his early 30's in that movie. Which you could argue is about how old the digitally de-aged character looks;
So it all fits except that AoS line about him meeting Fury fresh out of school

. Why was he finishing high school aged 33?
Though to be fair... it didn't really make sense that someone would be snapped up by something like SHIELD at 18, and actually makes much more sense that he'd have been a new recruit in his 30's, coming from another agency like the FBI or summat.
So that's an AoS plot hole rather than a Capt. Marvel one.
Note: None of this has anything to do with Dark Phoenix. #Derail # 5yearAwardsPostWhereWeWant
