If prisoners are locked up for a short term for minor misdemeanours then I agree with letting them out.
Keeping so many people gathered together like that could bring about so many deaths.

I think they're handling it as well as can be expected. We have had nothing like this before that people can call on for experience. 100 years ago there was a flu pandemic, but society is very different now, and there are far more people. Well, anyone who's not in charge can claim they could do better.

Why not? She was released with a large cohort of other prisoners due to the virus ....I doubt they will be releasing lifers

Well give them the choice .. stay in and serve HALF of their actual sentence.. or get out even earlier and do those non-skilled jobs ( and get paid !) that will be need to be filled .. .
Much better than putting out army / navy :air force guys to work which has been suggested
