It's illegal to kill red squirrels in Scotland so bit of a moot point really; you couldn't set up fatal squirrel traps for greys without endangering reds, thus, they're not legal.

I’m aware of the damage grey squirrels have had on the smaller red squirrels but I’m sure wild agency’s would know were red squirrels are living and protect them

I only ever seen a red squirrel at a college and the tres they live in, netted so they can’t leave and animals can’t get them.
