The spread of Covid in London is "out of control" according to Sadiq Khan, who has declared a "major incident"

It comes as the coronavirus infection rate in London has exceeded 1,000 per 100,000 people.

Major incidents have previously been called for the Grenfell Tower fire in June 2017 and the terror attacks at Westminster Bridge and London Bridge.

Currently, there are more than 7,000 people in hospital with Covid-19, the mayor said.

This is a 35% increase compared to the previous peak of the pandemic, Mr Khan added.

Netherlands: Virologist Ab Osterhaus wants us to extend lockdown, and consider to go into a even stricter lockdown, almost same measures Germany has taken with regional travel bans and curfews

I saw a woman interviewed on the London news last night whose Mom had passed away, she 'only went to a wedding' she said, I mean there is just no educating some of these people

Londoners should not be surprised by this ~ as they had lots of shopping to do wearing no masks and crowding the streets .

I saw that too....I could understand if she'd "only" gone to a supermarket or doctors appointment but a wedding??

One of my work colleagues' friends passed away last week.....she was only 50, no underlying conditions and caught it from a friend who she saw for 15 minutes just before christmas. She has left an 11 year old son behind

It's the opposite up here - they've changed from "all vulnerable and keyworkers kids" to "by application and assessed on individual need only".

We got a text message to say that our youngest has been assessed as not being in need of a place despite being on the vulnerable list (in special education) and the child of a keyworker. We weren't sending her anyway but now officially don't have the choice.

Some of the parents are... displeased, to say the least.

How is she dealing with it all now TS, you were saying she was finding the break to her routine tough way back during the first Lockdown (iirc)

If parents say they can’t access the online lessons... no laptop, no internet then they are being a considered..

Also pupils with just ONE key worker parent rather than TWO as in the first lockdown .. we are being “encouraged” to contact pupils not accessing online learning and it sounds as though they too will be accepted..

I know Unison are calling for a classroom limit of 50% or Max of 15 per class !!

Apologies for any errors in this post ... I’m off to bed with a banging migraine

Hopefully be back tomorrow..

Incidentally last lockdown we had between 18 and 25 pupils in each day ..

This time we are already at 120 and increasing daily ..
