Good on her. Everyone deserves a right to their privacy if thats what they want no matter who they are or how you feel about them

...absolutely and that’s the main point...regardless of how anyone feels about Meghan or any celebrity, this win is something that should be celebrated because the Tabloid media have such disregard for privacy on any level...their only aim is to sensationalise, however harmful that is...Meghan’s victory with this is a victory against their shabbiness and something which should be celebrated widely and I’m glad that she uses her voice in these things...

Yes, everyone deserves privacy, but Meghan didn’t care about her privacy when People magazine quoted her friends revealing those parts of the letter to her father that put her in a good light and her father bad. Did she sue them? Nope.
It’s fine for her fathers privacy to be breached but not Meghan's when he tries to defend himself. He doesn't have the means of having a 'voice' in the way she does.

It’s fine for her non - celebrity elderly fathers privacy to be breached when paps are camping on his doorstep and stalking him and Meghan refuses to let him be aided in any way.
Everyone deserves privacy ‘no matter who they are or how you feel about them’ but all that matters in this case is Meghan’s privacy. Okay.

This threads about Meghans case against the media, not her dad, not her friends, her. So yes in this discussion her privacy is really all that matters.

Posting yes everyone deserves privacy 'but'.... is just pettiness due to who she is.

Are you saying that everyone should strictly adhere to what a thread is about and never expand the discussion to include related elements?
You yourself said ‘everyone deserves privacy no matter who they are or what you feel about them’ - and I agreed in principle and expanded on your comment by referring to her father who after all was the recipient of the letter.
IMO your response is just the avoidance of responding with your own opinion to the content of the post.

So you dont believe everyone deserves or is entitled to privacy at all then..which contradicts your earlier comments. Hmmm okay.

Umm no I'm not saying threads should never expand into other discussion at all my point was that yes you agreed in principle that everyone is entitled to privacy but of course because the person being discussed is Meghan you couldn't leave it at that...

I posted my own opinion in my very first comment, it related directly to the case... my main point being that regardless of what anyone thinks of Meghan or her father or anyone else it doesnt really change the fact that everyone is entitled to privacy if they wish to have it so it's a great thing that she won against these papers and hopefully sets a precedent for how they treat people in future, how anyone could disagree with that or even through in 'yeah buts' to try spin it to a negative is baffling tbh and just comes across as being due to who it is about

I agree that everyone is entitled to privacy and I pointed out that her father was also. No 'spin', just my opinion...and yes, its no secret that I dislike her a lot and I have no particular liking for her father either. I just can't stand unfairness and hypocrisy.
As for setting a precedent for how the tabloids treat people in future, its all been done before numerous times (by members of the royals before her as well) and it has made no difference.
In the case of private letters I totally agree they should remain private for both the writer and the recipient and the win was correct.
