The source revealed that this included the need to re-test a large batch of the vaccine, although they did not specify from which manufacturer. They also suggested there was an issue with AstraZeneca's production overseas, resulting in fewer jabs being delivered in April than initially planned. This was backed up by another government source that claimed the shortages were related to the late delivery of five million doses of the AstraZeneca jab being manufactured in India. The Serum Institute was due to send 10 million doses to the UK - yet only half have arrived.
