Spoiler:

I didn’t find beneviento scary, as soon as they take your gunz you know all of the scares will be scripted events/“running away” so it’s just not that scary. That said, I’m playing through with my wife so maybe being “not alone” makes it less scary.

We just finished the factory so I assume are very near the end.

Spoiler:

The scripted stuff isn't what makes it scary, plus if you're playing on your own with headphones on, it really ups the effect that house has. It's when things DON'T happen that Beneviento's at it's most terrifying. When you first arrive at the house and it's all silent and unassuming, every time you solve a puzzle and the basement changes a little, and the worst part was the Well room. It's just tension on top of tension. When Ethan turned around to descend the ladder, I thought the Mia doll would be standing there looking at him, and then nothing happened and then when you got to the bottom only to not be jumpscared but to have the sound of a baby crying until you exit, to find that everything is dark and doused with a red light? I literally had to take a break. The baby monster was nothing, all the 'big moments' weren't a bother, but the slow building tension and the fact they eschewed jumpscares throughout to cultivate a genuine sense of fear and dread? A+
