Exactly. I'm not saying journalism is above using old photos that have nothing to do with a story, that happens all the time, but the claim that it is really needs to be backed up with a link to the original image source. e.g. at the beginning of Covid tonnes of videos of people collapsing (supposedly of Covid) in the street in China were posted on social media but turned out to be clips of people from years earlier, heart attacks, etc... But this was proven with links to the YouTube videos of the same footage, which had the year on them.
I'd need to see a dated article about the gas explosion featuring this picture, basically.
