i think harry has a huge amount of baggage that has built up over the years and being second fiddle to william will be pretty low down the list. He has made a lot of bad choices/decisions over the years and thats entirely down to him. Some people always believe they are hard done by and harry is simply an example of that. He will never change

I don't know that it's even about second fiddle as much as it is the "great importance" that's placed on the other sibling... I think that affects any sibling relationship really. My bed friend had a "golden child" brother (test scores off the chart, played piano at a high grade by 12, spoke fluent Japanese by 15 etc.) and his parents didn't exactly hide how great they thought the brother was. It's not like they were bad to him or even that they didn't have a loving relationship - it was just abundantly clear that the brother was seen as "special" and it was clear that affected him.

Thats going to be the case for any royal sibling I think, especially when there are just two of them... Margaret, for example. Its probably lessened when there are other siblings in the mix as then it's a different thing, not "one and one".

Im not saying its the crux of all the issues but having a sibling with a "destiny" is going to affect anyone in some way.

We need a bank holiday between August and Christmas, too many crammed in to the start of the year

A lemon and Swiss roll amaretti trifle is to be the official pudding for the Queen's Platinum Jubilee after winning a competition to find a new dessert.

Jemma Melvin created the dessert, inspired by the lemon posset served at the Queen's wedding to Prince Philip.

The trifle is made with layers of lemon curd swiss roll, custard, jelly, a mandarin coulis and amaretti biscuits.

It will join the ranks of royal-inspired dishes, such as coronation chicken and Victoria sponge.

Some 5,000 people, aged eight to 108, entered the nationwide competition to craft a new pudding to commemorate the Queen's 70-year reign, with entries whittled down to five finalists who subsequently competed before a panel of expert judges in a show on BBC One.

Jemma, a copywriter from Southport, Merseyside, beat fellow amateur bakers Kathryn MacLennan, Sam Smith, Shabnam Russo and Susan Gardner in a special BBC programme called The Jubilee Pudding: 70 years in the Baking, with the Duchess of Cornwall announcing the winner.

The competition was run by royal grocer Fortnum and Mason, in partnership with the Big Jubilee Lunch Charity, to create a pudding that had a memorable story behind it, tasted delicious, and was fit for the 96-year-old Queen.

The Queen had lemon at her wedding though - its a nod to Prince Philip too.

I think it sounds delicious

ROBERT HARDMAN: Family, military and 600 horses...what a joyous gallop through the Queen's favourite things
16th May

When she comes to look back on the numerous events great and small in honour of the first Platinum Jubilee in British history, it's a safe bet that last night's emotional spectacular in her own back garden will be near the top of the Queen's list of happy memories.
She braved the night air for her first nocturnal engagement of the year (an outdoor one, too).
And, well past 10.30pm, she was very clearly continuing to enjoy herself enormously – receiving a thumping three cheers before heading home……

....Screened live on iTV, the event frequently brought the 5,000 strong crowd to its feet....
……………..
It was a very enjoyable and emotional star studded spectacular, and the Queen looked pretty good.

Good, I'll look out for those days being off when I next see my rota. My company better comply! (They do for every other bank holiday.)

Also, when the queen imminently dies, hopefully we also get another long weekend.

THE QUEEN delighted royal fans as she made an unscheduled appearance today in London to mark the completion of the Elizabeth Line.
By ALICE SCARSI 11:39, Tue, May 17, 2022 |

Her Majesty visited Paddington ahead of the launch of the new rail line named after her. The Queen was all smiles as she emerged from the lift at the London station in a dazzling bright yellow outfit.

The 96-year-old monarch donned a matching yellow hat and coat, under which could be spotted a blue, white and yellow dress with a floral pattern. The resilient Queen carried her signature bag and walked aided only by a light walking stick.
Her Majesty was accompanied to the west London station by her youngest son Prince Edward.

During the engagement, the royals chatted with Prime Minister Boris Johnson, London Mayor Sadiq Khan and TfL commissioner Andy Byford.
............
It's great to see her out and about.

Have to admit I loved it last week when she didn't go to some stuffy government thing with them saying she wasn't fit enough, but then she was at some other event (horses maybe?) all smiles. Hahaha. You have to admire that.

"Your majesty, there's an important event with Boris and..."
"F *** off I'm not going to that! Say I'm sick!"
