Scientists believe the virus originated from someone who was immunised abroad with the live oral polio vaccine, which hasn't been used in the UK since 2004.

That person then shed traces of the virus from their gut which were detected by the sewage sampling.

Yes and since then they’ve passed it onto many of their family / friends etc over the past few months

Oddly enough the microbiologist on Sky today said that it will have been brought in from another country .... as many other countries use a different way of immunising against Polio ( something along those lines anyway )

Think he said that we and the United States for example use the Inactivated polio vaccine (IPV) whereas many others use active immunity. ( Injecting the microbes deliberately during immunisation/vaccination induces active immunity )

There have been multiple findings over a period of months all genetically related ..
that’s how they know it’s spreading from family member to other extended family members and contacts ... apparently
